Registration Fee Refunds and Credits

  1. Policy Statement: It is the intention of the Walpole Recreation Department to offer recreational programs that are self-supporting. Because the Recreation Department incurs expenses to hire staff, purchase supplies and materials, and contract other expenses in preparation of a program, the department cannot offer full refunds.
  2. Policy Description: 
    Full refunds are not given. Exceptions:Partial refunds may be issued upon request; however a 20% administrative fee of the overall program cost will be deducted for each participant. The remaining 80% balance will be refunded to the participant by check within 7-10 business days. No refunds will be issued without 48 hours’ notice prior to the start of the program.
    Full credits will automatically be issued for use toward the cost of a future Recreation Department program. Credits are non-transferable and non-refundable. There are no partial credits.
    • Program cancellation by the department.
    • Medical hardship. A letter of request along with proof from qualified medical professionals must be received 7 days prior to the start of the program and serve as sufficient proof of hardship.

Town-Owned Fields and Parks

  1. Policy Statement: It is the intention of the Walpole Recreation Department to schedule its passive parks, athletic fields, and recreation facilities to advance the Recreation Department's services to Walpole residents and its overall mission, to preserve the capital investments from unusual wear and tear, and to generate revenue that will directly support the Recreation Department operating costs.

To take pride in our facilities by keeping them safe and well-maintained for people of all ages. Our hope is to make Walpole the "Place to Be" for family fun.
    • Walpole Resident: A person who verifiable residents in Walpole. Any reasonable proof, i.e. driver's license, resident street listings, water bill, etc. Person is not a resident without reasonable proof.
    • Responsible Walpole Non-Profit Group or Organization: Responsible Walpole groups and organizations are ones that have a minimum of 50% Walpole memberships, are of known reputation and character, and can be identified by the recreation staff with addresses, phone numbers, established Board of Directors, websites, etc., and whose activities pose no risk to the building and its amenities.
    • Organized Group Use: All pre-planned scheduled activity. 
    • User Group Seasonal Permits: Permits for a non-profit group or organization that significantly contributes to the Recreation Department's overall mission.
  3. Policy Description: It is the policy of the department to schedule its parks and athletic fields under the Recreation Committee's authority with activity that is compatible with the facilities' design and intended purpose. A permit shall be required for all organized group use. Reasonable fees, terms, and conditions may apply. Scheduling will be in accordance with the following priorities:
    • School Department activities.
    • Recreation programming activity. Those programs advertised, sponsored by, and overseen by the Recreation Department staff.
    • Responsible Walpole non-profit recreation groups and organizations that significantly contribute to the overall mission of the Recreation Department.
    • Other outside interests, profit making ventures, market rate rentals.

Reasonable fees, terms and conditions may apply. Scheduling will be in accordance with the following priorities: 
    • Recreation programming activity. Those programs advertised, sponsored by, and overseen by the Recreation Department staff.
    • Events of town-wide interest and importance including other Town department-sponsored activities. 
    • Responsible Walpole non-profit recreation groups and organizations that significantly contribute to the overall mission of the Recreation Department.
    • Other outside interests, profit making ventures, market rate rentals.
