From Concerts on the Common to the town's public swimming pools, hundreds of Walpole residents participate in Recreation Department programs and community events each year. To oversee these programs and help serve the public, the Recreation Department employs an essential workforce of part-time seasonal positions. The variety of positions available ranges from lifeguards, to program instructors, counselors and more. Whatever the job, seasonal temporary employees have the opportunity to help and serve Walpole residents while learning about the Recreation Department and its mission.
Seasonal jobs are very competitive - the number of applicants usually exceeds the number of positions available each year, particularly with the larger, well-known programs.
Most seasonal employees are hired for the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day. A limited number of positions are available at various times during the year. All employees must be at least 16 years of age.
