PATRICK SHIELD | Recreation Director
Patrick is the Director of the Walpole Recreation Department, having joined the team in June 2015. He is a graduate of Walpole High School and a lifelong resident of Walpole. Prior to joining the Recreation Department, Patrick worked for the Massachusetts Senate and got his start in civic participation on the 6th grade Johnson Middle School Student Council and later Walpole Representative Town Meeting and School Committee. When he’s not working, Patrick enjoys visiting National Parks, camping, biking, and learning about local Walpole history. He is admittedly a terrible golfer and his favorite holidays are the Fourth of July and Thanksgiving. Patrick brings much enthusiasm and charisma to his job and we are excited to move forward with him in a positive direction.

BRENDAN CROAK | Assistant Director; Business Manager
The Recreation Department is excited to welcome the return of Brendan Croak in his new position as the Assistant Recreation Director/Business Manager. Brendan is a longtime member of the Recreation team, having worked for the department in one way or another for more than half of his life. Brendan isn’t all work and no play - he is an avid lover of sports and spends most of his summer nights cheering for the Boston Red Sox. This upcoming fall will mark his seventh season coaching the Walpole High School Boys Soccer Junior Varsity Team, not to mention his experience coaching Babe Ruth Baseball and Recreation Basketball. Brendan prefers low-fives to high-fives and his favorite sandwich is the Chicken or the Egg? sandwich from Farmer in the Dell. We are excited for Brendan to be back and we
can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!

Lauren Macomber’s smiling face has been a staple of the Recreation Department for over 10 years. Her nonstop energy and warm personality make the Recreation Department a familiar and loving place for many Walpole families. Lauren also grew up in Walpole and graduated from Walpole High School. In addition to working at the Recreation Department, Lauren also helps out with the Walpole High School Field Hockey team as they continue to have success each and every year. ARIELLE CARNEY | Program Coordinator
We also excited to announce the recent addition of Arielle Carney to our staff, who joins the Recreation Department all the way from Lakewood, Washington. She has worked for municipal Parks & Recreation departments since her early years of college and quickly grew to love the energy, creativity and fun that the recreation field has to offer. Her many interests include her Standard Poodle and watching Mrs. Doubtfire. She is thoroughly enjoying everything New England has to offer! Adventuring to Cambridge to see Julia Child’s house and visit Julia’s old stomping ground at Savenor’s Market was one of her first New England adventures. If you have time, please stop by the Walpole Recreation Department office and give Arielle a nice, warm Walpole welcome!
